One of the nation's leading infectious disease experts warned yesterday that "we have not begun to see the worst" of the SARS epidemic.
The bleak forecast was reluctantly endorsed by the Bush administration's top two physicians.
Though it may seem that the SARS storm is quieting, particularly in North America, Michael Osterholm, chairman of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, said it is increasingly likely the disease will re-emerge with a vengeance next winter.
